There are lots of ways to connect or integrate Tribal Habits with Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure or Microsoft Office files.

Many organisations make use of various Microsoft product - Microsoft 365, Azure, Office, SharePoint, OneDrive and more. In this article, we'll look at a variety of ways you can connect or integrate Microsoft products with your Tribal Habits portal.

Azure AD User Sync

Tribal Habits supports a user data sync from Microsoft Azure AD. This means that you can have users created in your Tribal Habits portal automatically from specified Azure AD Groups. This can include populating custom fields such as location or job title. New users can be created and existing users can be updated. Manager information for each user can be populated as well. Azure AD Single-Sign-On

Tribal Habits supports Azure AD SSO. This means that your users will not have to log into Tribal Habits with a separate username and password. Once they are logged into their work environment using their standard Azure AD login, then they will automatically have access to your Tribal Habits portal without the need for a separate password. This makes Tribal Habits work as a native app within your Microsoft environment. Learn more about our Azure AD SSO integration.

SharePoint CSV or Excel User Sync

Tribal Habits also supports user data sync from CSV or Excel files stored within your Microsoft SharePoint environment. This can be a powerful option when you are not using Azure AD as your user data source, but are instead using a third-party platform (perhaps a payroll system). If we are unable to integrate with your payroll system directly (perhaps it does not have an API), then if your payroll or other platform can periodically export your users into a CSV or Excel file, then we can update your uses automatically from that file. Linking to SharePoint documents

Tribal Habits supports direct links to documents saved in your SharePoint sites. Using our 'Button' building block, you can paste in a direct link to a SharePoint file. SharePoint supports links which only for 'viewing only', allowing you to share files via your secure SharePoint links. As you update those files, the link in Tribal Habits will always point to the latest version of those files. This is perfect for linking to policy documents or standard operating procedures. Displaying slides (.pptx) or documents (.docx) as PDFs

Tribal Habits supports direct embedding and display of PDF documents. We do not support direct embedding of Office documents, as they are often extremely large in size (making for slow screen load times) and can have conflicts in displaying certain fonts or layouts in different browsers (making for unpredictable learner experiences). Instead, you can PDF your slides and documents - reducing file size and ensuring consistent displays - and display those PDFs for learners to review via our 'PDF' building block. This building block also supports text searches within the PDF, full screen view and controls for printing and downloading. Learn more about our PDF building block.

Sharing recorded slideshows from PowerPoint

If you have a set of PowerPoint slides with a voiceover (or PowerPoint slides you would like to display with a voiceover), then you can record your slides and voiceover in PowerPoint, export as a video and then upload the video directly into Tribal Habits using our Video element. Our video element provides native video hosting and streaming of your recorded slides. We encode your video into multiple formats, and then stream the best version to each learner based on their device and bandwidth. Our videos are secure too - they cannot be downloaded by your learners. Even better, our videos include free automated captions, allowing learners to watch a video even when they do not have audio. Sharing recording Teams meetings

Similarly, if you have recorded a Teams meeting - or any video recording of any meeting or webinar - you can use Tribal Habits to store and share those videos. We have unlimited video hosting, so you don't need to worry about the number of videos (and each video can be up to 8GB in size, which is over two hours of HD video!).

Linking to training modules via Office, Teams or SharePoint

There are many ways to manage enrolments in Tribal Habits, including our amazing internal auto-enrol links. These links are secure URLs which you can paste into documents, intranet sites or Teams. When a learner clicks on the link, they are enrolled into the associated training and redirected to the starting page. If you are using our Azure AD SSO integration, then the process is instant and without any password for your SSO users. This allows you to drop a link into a Teams chat ('Click here to enrol in training about...'), embed a link in an intranet site ('Click here to start a training module about...') or paste a link into a process document ('Click here to learn more about this...'). Exporting reports to Excel or PowerBI

Tribal Habits has significant reporting options - far beyond a traditional LMS. Even better, every report can be saved as a favourite (including all custom filters) and exported to CSV. There are no restrictions on CSV exports either. This means you can always take any data from our platform, at any time and as often as you like, to create your own customised reporting in Excel or PowerBI.
