How can I manage my portal's landing page?

The Landing Page setting controls which page users see first after logging in. You can set a default landing page for the portal or assign custom pages for specific users through their profiles. Users can set their own preferred landing page too.

The Landing Page setting determines which page users see first when they log in to your portal. This helps create a consistent experience and directs users to the most relevant area right away.

Landing page preferences can be set at the portal level or for individual users - either by an admin or by the users themselves.

Note: The landing page of individual users can also be set via a bulk CSV upload.

What is the 'Landing Page' setting used for?

Different organisations and users may prefer different landing pages based on their roles, workflows, or the features they use most often. For example, administration or content creation.

The landing page setting:

  • Sets the default page all users see after logging in.

  • Ensures a consistent starting point for navigation and workflows.

  • Can be overridden for individual users by assigning a custom landing page in their user profile or by the user themselves.

Landing page options

For the portal default (organisation-wide), the following options are available:

  • System default

  • Dashboard – Overview

  • Dashboard – Calendar

  • Training – Enrolments

  • Profile

Note: The 'System default' option applies to any organisation that does not update this setting for their portal, which is the 'Dashboard – Overview' page.

For individual users, the following options are available:

  • System default

  • Dashboard – Overview

  • Dashboard – Calendar

  • Training – Enrolments

  • Profile

  • Assess*

  • Create*

  • Admin*

Note: Pages marked with an asterisk* are permission-dependent. For example, if you set Create as the landing page for a user who does not have permission to create topics, they will be redirected to the portal default landing page instead.

How to manage your portal's default landing page

Go to Admin → Subscription → Settings, click 'Edit Settings' in the 'Settings' panel, click the dropdown next to 'Landing Page' and select the preferred default landing page for your portal. Then click 'Save'.

This default will apply to all users unless they have a custom landing page assigned in their profile.

How to manage the landing page of an individual user (Admins)

Admins can assign custom landing pages for specific users through the user profile settings or via a bulk CSV upload.

To assign a landing page to an individual user via their profile:

  1. Locate the user's profile by navigating to the People page and clicking on the user's name.

  2. In their profile, click 'Edit Settings' in the 'Permissions' panel.

  3. Click the dropdown next to 'Landing Page' and select the preferred default landing page for the user.

  4. Then click 'Save'.

Setting a landing page specific to individual users allows you to tailor the experience to each user’s role, permissions, or workflow, and can be particularly useful for users whose main responsibilities or reason for accessing the portal are things like content creation or portal administration.

How to manage the landing page of an individual user (Managers/Team Leaders)

Managers and team leaders can assign custom landing pages for their team members through the Team page.

To assign a landing page to an individual user via the Team page:

  1. Locate the user's profile by navigating to the Team page, clicking on the Members tab, and clicking on the user.

  2. Scroll down and click on the Settings panel.

  3. Use the dropdown next to 'Default landing page after login' and select the preferred default landing page for the user.

How users can manage their own landing page

Users can set their own landing page preference from the 'Profile' tab of their learner homepage, in the 'Settings' panel.

Note: The options available to the learner to select from will depend on their permissions and access.
