The Landing Page setting controls which page users are taken to when they log in to your portal. This helps create a consistent user experience and can guide users toward the most relevant part of your portal right away.
What is the 'Landing Page' setting used for?
Different organisations or users may prefer different landing pages depending on roles, workflows, or the features they use most frequently (for instance, administration and content creation).
The landing page setting:
Sets the default page all users see after logging in.
Ensures a consistent starting point for navigation and workflows.
Can be overridden for individual users by assigning a custom landing page in their user profile.
Landing page options
For the portal default (organisation-wide), the following options are available:
System default
Dashboard – Overview
Dashboard – Calendar
Training – Enrolments
Profile
Note: The 'System default' option applies to any organisation that does not update this setting for their portal, which is the 'Dashboard – Overview' page.
For individual users, the following options are available:
System default
Dashboard – Overview
Dashboard – Calendar
Training – Enrolments
Profile
Assess*
Create*
Admin*
Note: Pages marked with an asterisk* are permission-dependent. For example, if you set Create as the landing page for a user who does not have permission to create topics, they will be redirected to the portal default landing page instead.
How to manage the default landing page
Go to Admin → Subscription → Settings, click 'Edit Settings' in the 'Settings' panel, click the dropdown next to 'Landing Page' and select the preferred default landing page for your portal. Then click 'Save'.
This default will apply to all users unless they have a custom landing page assigned in their profile.
How to manage individual user landing pages
Admins can assign custom landing pages for specific users through the user profile settings.
Locate the user's profile by navigating to the People page and clicking on the user's name. In their profile, click 'Edit Settings' in the 'Permissions' panel, click the dropdown next to 'Landing Page' and select the preferred default landing page for the user. Then click 'Save'.
Setting a landing page specific to individual users allows you to tailor the experience to a each user’s role, permissions, or workflow, and can be particularly useful for users whose main responsibilities or reason for accessing the portal are things like content creation or portal administration.
