There may be times when you want to combine a group of short topics together. While there isn't a direct feature to combine short topics, you can copy the content from each into a standard topic.
In this article, we’ll walk through the steps to combine multiple short topics into a standard topic. For information on the difference between short and standard topics, and when to use each, click here.
Note: To complete this task, you will need to be assigned as a creator for each of the short topics you wish to combine.
Step 1: Create a destination topic
Step 1: Create a destination topic
Firstly, you will need to create a new standard topic (this will serve as the destination for your short topics).
While setting up your topic, you'll need to provide some basic information for the topic, such as a name, and some text around who the topic is designed for, etc.. This can be edited later, so just enter something to go on with.
Once your standard topic is ready, delete any unnecessary parts. One part is enough for now.
Before moving on, you need to add something to Part 1. Include a title, a section, and an image within the section. This content will be removed later so don't worry about what the content actually is, it's just a placeholder.
Step 2: Temporarily convert your first short topic to a standard topic
Step 2: Temporarily convert your first short topic to a standard topic
Now that your 'destination' standard topic is ready, you're just about ready to begin copying content from your short topics into it. Firstly, you'll need to convert each short topic into a standard topic so its parts can be copied across (as short topics cannot be copied into another topic).
Note: To convert a short topic into a standard topic, follow the steps outlined here.
Step 3: Copy your converted topic over to the destination topic
Step 3: Copy your converted topic over to the destination topic
Now that your short topic has been changed to a standard topic, you’re ready to copy the content to your destination topic.
Note: Click here for the steps to follow to copy an entire part from one topic to another.
In the example below, the content from the short topic 'Apologising to customers' now sits in the newly created Part 2 of destination topic 'Customer Service 101'.
Note: Once you’ve finished this step, you may want to return to the topic you copied and switch it back to a short topic. This ensures you still have a copy of the original short topic. Follow the same steps as earlier to toggle your now standard topic back into a short topic.
Step 4: Repeat
Step 4: Repeat
Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each additional short topic you want to combine. As you go, your destination topic will begin to show new parts along the top—each one reflecting a short topic that was converted into a standard topic part and copied across.
In the example below, the four short topics that were converted into standard topics, (and whose parts we copied) are now showing as parts in the destination topic.

Additional steps
Once your new standard topic contains all the parts it needs, delete the first part that you added as a placeholder.
From there, edit your new topic as needed. Remember that when copying parts from one topic to another, it is only the parts that are copied. You will still need to apply a new set of configurations, such as general settings (admin visibility, timing, etc.), notifications, and access settings to this topic.
Note: You may also want to archive the original short topics, rather than deleting them - just for future reference.
