How can I customise the name of assessable item statuses?

Learn how to customise assessable item status labels in Tribal Habits, including the default statuses, supported elements and where custom labels appear.

Overview

Assessable items, such as Q&A, Upload and Requirement elements, are assigned a status once an assessor has reviewed them. The default statuses are:

  • Pending: The default status until the item is reviewed.

  • Pass: The item meets the required standard.

  • Fail: The item does not meet the required standard.

Note: Task elements work differently. They start as Pending and are marked Verified once the assessor confirms the task has been completed.

You can customise the wording of these status labels for each element to suit your organisation's terminology and workflows. For example, Pass could display as 'Competent' on one element and 'Complete' on another.

Steps

  1. Open the topic in Creator and add or edit a Q&A, Upload, Requirement or Task element.

  2. Locate the custom status label fields in the element's settings.

  3. Enter the label you want to display in place of each default status. For example, enter 'Competent' to replace Pass.

  4. Save the element.

Where custom status labels appear

Custom status labels display to both assessors and learners wherever the status for that element is shown.

Assessor view showing each possible status - customised as 'awaiting approval', 'declined', and 'approved'.

Learner view shows that the Task submission is awaiting approval, rather than pending.

FAQs

Do custom status labels appear in reports?
No. Custom labels only display on the element itself for assessors and learners. Reports show the default status names, such as Pass and Fail.

If I change a custom label, will it update items that have already been assessed?
Yes. Custom labels apply to the element as a whole, so the new label also displays on items that were assessed before the change.
