FAQs

Are all user types counted as monthly active users?
Yes. Any user who logs in during a given month is counted as a monthly active user, regardless of how they were added to the platform (self-registration or admin-added) or what role they hold - contractor, team leader, assessor, admin, creator, or otherwise.

What if my MAUs seems slightly different to what I expected?

A small discrepancy in your MAU count is usually caused by time zone differences. MAUs are calculated in UTC, but your portal most likely displays data in a local time zone. This means some first-of-month logins can appear to fall in the previous month - for example, a learner in Sydney logging in at 9am on January 1st would be recorded in UTC as December 31st and would count toward December's MAU instead of January's.

Is the Monthly Active Users report different to the Active Users report?

Yes. The two reports measure slightly different things:

Active Users is an activity report that shows existing users who logged in during the calendar month according to your organisation's time zone. It excludes deleted users entirely and filters out deactivated users by default.

Monthly Active Users is the official count used for billing. It includes any user who logged in during the calendar month - activated, deactivated, or deleted - calculated in UTC.
