Accessing the MasterClass topic and recordings
In conjunction with the MasterClasses, we are also creating a new topic in our library called 'Creator MasterClass'. This topic has 12 parts, one for each of the MasterClasses. You will see David using this topic in each class and once each class completes, we will update this topic with all the new information from that class.
The topic will also include a recording of each MasterClass at the start of each part.
TIP: Import (don't copy) the MasterClass into your portal. Each week, you can then just update to the latest version to get the next recording and content. Feel free to enrol your creators into the topic and encourage them to revisit it over time as the content is updated.
1 - Planning (19 Feb 25) - Completed
In this class, I’ll be looking at the initial planning creators should undertake before starting the process of building content. In particular, we’ll look at how to ‘chunk’ up content for online learning. I’ll be discussing Pathways vs Topics, splitting topics into chapters, managing learner attention and energy and how to work with AI to map out a topic and its chapters. This class has concluded.
2 - Static text (26 Feb 25)
In this class, I’ll be working with text-based elements. For online learning, text remains a critical medium. We’ll look at how to format text for online learning, but also how to use elements like insights and quotes to make text more approachable for learners. Click here to register.
3 - Interactive text (5 Mar 25)
In this class I will continue working with text, but moving into more interactive text elements such as the Interact element – tabs, accordions, flip cards, process flows, acronyms. We’ll discuss how and when to use each layout and how to quickly transform your existing text into these layouts. Click here to register.
4 - Images (12 Mar 25)
In this class, we’ll switch to working with media. We’ll be starting with images – so the image, slideshow and hotspot interactions as well as adding images to other elements. We’ll look at where to source images and editing them for online learning. Click here to register.
5 - Media (19 Mar 25)

6 - Quizzes (26 Mar 25)
In this class, we can move on from all the content we created in classes 2-5 and start to think about more interaction. We’ll begin with quizzes – how to use quizzes to both calibrate learners but also confirm understanding. We’ll look at the different types of quizzes along with best practices on online graded assessments. Click here to register.
7 - Surveys (2 Apr 25)
In this class, we will switch to non-graded interactions – surveys. We’ll see how to use polls and surveys not just for feedback, but also to improve understanding, engage learners and gather training data. Click here to register.
8 - Complex interactions (9 Apr 25)
In this class, we’ll dive into two of the more complex online learning interactions – Scenario and Sort. I will review ways to create these interactions quicker and with reduced effort. Click here to register.
9 - Finalising (16 Apr 25)
In this class, we’ll consider all the help you can get when your module is largely finished and ready for a review. This will include summarising your module overview, reviewing content with AI and human reviewers and managing version control. Click here to register.
10 - Expert: Assessable content (23 Apr 25)
In this expert class, I’ll be examining tips for manually assessable content – essays, uploaded files or on-the-job tasks. We’ll learn how to set them up and look at tips to manage these interactions both efficiently and effectively. Click here to register.
